I filed my taxes last October, just hours before the extension deadline. As I frantically searched for documents that would have been easily accessible months earlier, I couldn't help but laugh at the absurdity of it all. Not only had I made the task harder by waiting, I had spent months anxiously thinking about those taxes – far longer than it actually took to file them.

Think about that for a moment: I spent more time worrying about the task than doing it. I traded six months of low-grade anxiety for four hours of work.

That's a terrible return on investment.
