[Part 2] I Am Quitting My Job At Amazon

It's been a week since I announced the big news that I've decided to leave Amazon. I'd like to share my thoughts about how I came to this decision, using a framework I employ for major personal and professional choices.
Often, people frame a decision as a choice between two courses of action: I could either a) quit or b) stay the course. However, the range of possible actions is much larger.
I could have decided to stay for another 6 months or another year. I could have "ghost quit." I could have decided to quit YouTube and abandon the email newsletter. I could have even decided to uproot my family and move to Brazil.
The path forward lies on a gradient of possibilities in a high-dimensional space. It takes considerable effort to sift through all these options. This is why the status quo is the default; it's held in place by the curse of dimensionality. Inertia is incredibly difficult to overcome given the immense possibilities of what you could do.
